Two factory numbers for a “100 GSM woven fabric roll” are not a comparison until the structure matches. This page is for bulk buyers who already have two offers, or who are about to ask for them. It is not a price list. This site does not publish online USD or loading calculators.
Start with the PP woven fabric roll buyer’s guide if the RFQ is still a one-line GSM. Use this page when two sheets are already on the desk.
Line up the spec before the price
Copy both offers into one table. If a cell is blank, treat that quote as incomplete.
| Line | Ask both suppliers | Why the number moves |
|---|---|---|
| Application | Packaging, ground cover, geotextile, covering or conversion | Decides UV, permeability, lamination and test language |
| Polymer | PP, PE or blend | See PP vs PE woven fabric |
| Structure | Unlaminated or PE-laminated, one side or two | Laminated vs unlaminated |
| GSM basis | Base cloth only, or finished laminated weight | The most common fake “cheaper 100 GSM” |
| Roll form | Flat (open width) or tubular; which width language | Flat vs tubular |
| Resin | Virgin, recycled or mixed | Virgin vs recycled |
| Width × length | Open width vs lay-flat; diameter or kg limit | Changes yield, handling and freight |
| Color / UV | Catalog color plus outdoor target or test method | “UV treated” is not a specification |
| Packing | Wrap, core, pallet or loose load | Changes how many rolls fit and claim risk |
| Terms | FOB vs CIF, port, payment | Do not compare a factory number with a landed number |
| Quantity | kg and square meters, not only “one container” | Coverage math |
If the project is geotextile, add MD/CD tensile, CBR, AOS/O90, permeability and the named test method. Color or GSM alone is not an engineering spec. Use geotextiles and the road-base spec guide.
Why two 100 GSM offers feel different
One mill often quotes base cloth. The other quotes finished laminated weight. A 100 GSM unlaminated roll is not the same product as a 100 GSM laminated roll. Film thickness, weave density and recycled content can still differ after the GSM label matches.
Read what GSM means next to this table. A 10 GSM gap is not automatically a quality gap if one quote includes PE film and the other does not.
Do not mix these pairs
- Open width and lay-flat width on tubular fabric.
- FOB and CIF (or any factory number vs a landed number).
- Price per ton and price per roll unless area and GSM basis are written.
- ASTM and ISO geotextile values as if they were the same test.
- Sample GSM and production GSM unless the mill confirms they match.
Buying by the ton without area hides coverage. Buying by the roll without kg hides freight weight. Write both.
What to do when the cheaper quote is incomplete
Ask for the missing cells before you award. Typical gaps:
- GSM basis not stated;
- lamination side missing;
- UV written only as “UV”;
- width language unclear;
- packing not named;
- Incoterms assumed.
A lower number with blank cells is not a saving. It is a claim risk. The usual claim list is on the bulk buyer FAQ: unclear GSM basis, missing UV, wrong width language, color drift on recycled lots, and a roll diameter that does not match the packing plan.
Match a competitor roll only from a sample
If one offer is “same as the other factory,” send a measured GSM, width, coating side and a photo of the weave—or a physical sample. Matching by a product nickname or a color name is how the wrong structure gets produced.
Catalog colors on this site—yellow, clear, white, blue, black—help identification. They do not replace the table above. Browse woven fabric roll options after the structure is aligned.
Quantity and MOQ
The minimum order quantity discussed on this site is 3,000 kg. Custom color or unusual width may need more. Mixing colors or GSM in one container can work if each lot is marked; each specification should still meet 3,000 kg unless otherwise agreed. List SKUs, meters and kg separately.
Sampling is usually a short length, not a full production color at container MOQ. Confirm whether the sample GSM matches production before you use the sample to judge both quotes.
How to send the next RFQ
Use one block for both mills:
- application and converting method;
- polymer and structure (lamination side);
- GSM basis;
- flat or tubular, width language, length or diameter limit;
- color, UV target, resin;
- quantity in kg and m²;
- packing and destination port;
- Incoterms.
Paste that into request a quote. Industry shortcuts: how to select a woven fabric roll by industry.
